The festive day
A project carried out in 2011. 24 colour photographs, depicting a series of closed shops shutters. Lowered shutters hide what's inside becoming apparently equal to one another. All in line, ordered and anonymous, they surround us but no one look at them, no one remember them, they are invisible. For few hours the city modifies its own face, rhythms bend down. Being the commercial life temporary suspended in the festive day, the town seems to fall asleep. Shopping centers remain by now open all days, festive included, so the shops closed shutters in towns and cities almost seems to admit the defeat of the small-scale retail system, a business model that, in Italy at least, seems to be in agony.
